Francisco A. Magno is a Professor of Political Science and Development Studies at De La Salle University where he previously served as Director of the DLSU Jesse M. Robredo Institute of Governance, Director of the Social Development Research Center, and Chair of the Political Science Department. He has served in leadership positions in professional organizations and policy advisory bodies, including President of the Philippine Political Science Association, President of the Local Government Training and Research Institutes-Philippine Network, Member of the National Leadership Council of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network-Philippines, Member of the National Steering Committee of the Open Government Partnership-Philippines, and Member of the Board of Trustees of Transparency International-Philippines. His latest publication is “Contemporary Populism and Democratic Challenges in the Philippines,” in Sook Jong Lee, Chin-en Wu and Kaustuv Kanti Banyopadhyay, eds. Populism in Asian Democracies: Features, Structures and Impacts (Leiden: Brill Publishers, 2021).
